Kaboom
Kaboom “Boom” is a 2001 model TB. He was bred by a race trainer but did not go to the track. I traded Luci for ‘Baby Grey Boy.’ He was an untrained 3 year old and he was originally planned to be a sale project.
Kaboom finds his work very easy and really enjoys being pushed to great heights. Jim Graham gave Boom the nick name, “Gumby Boy” because he rides like a noodle on the flat. Kaboom enjoys jumping me out of the tack, lateral work, canter pirouettes (to the left only), and herding his donkey Bob (passed down from Sigal). He also loves to sleep and is photographed often running and jumping with his eyes closed. Kaboom is a multi-purpose horse and participates in Hunters, Jumpers, Dressage, Competitive Trail, and Eventing. He can be a tough ride on XC and he is afraid of heights (hills). We often run into trees due to his spookiness and arrive at the finish line a little roughed up or covered in leaves.
Kaboom’s name: Boom’s original name was Share the Air because he loved to stick his nostrils in my face and breathe my air. He was later renamed Kaboom because he is a little boy in a china shop. He also bounds with a ‘porpoise canter’ and squeals like a pig when he’s happy. Kaboom suits him well.
Kaboom was sold in January 2011 to a hunter/jumper barn and is enjoying much success in his new career as a show hunter. To my great joy [but not to my surprise] Kaboom earned the honor of Circuit Champion at his first winter series!
