Dream Works (Luci)

Dream Works "Luci" is Kaboom’s 2000 model sister. Luci was my dream horse. I picked her out in the field as soon as we arrived at Buddy’s farm. She was the last horse of the lot to look at and I knew she was the one--she was truly love at first sight. Luci was the 1st horse that I ever ‘broke’ to saddle. She basically trained herself and within 6 weeks she could walk, trot, canter, hack out alone, and jump a 2’ course.

Luci was actually my original purchase [bought to replace Sigal in 2004] but as poor luck would show, two months after breaking her she was lame. Unfortunately upon examination my vet found an old fractured/fused fetlock that would prevent her from being a sound sport horse. I traded for her little brother, Baby Grey Boy, later named Kaboom.

Luci’s name: Luci was short for Lucifer. I had originally named her Helen Wheels due to her parents’ names (Fast Forward x Kentucky Nightmare) and after my grandmother, Helen, who loaned me the purchase money. After breaking Luci, I renamed her Dream Works because she was such a dream.

After selling Kaboom in January of 2011, I called Buddy Stidham (breeder of Kaboom and Luci) to see if he still had the big bay mare. I would love to have purchased her for a broodmare but she had unfortunately gone to a horse trader several years prior. There are no words that express my lasting sadness over this situation.
